tART - Transport to Art

tART - (Transport to Art) Rural Transport Scheme, Northern Shropshire

Would you like to go to arts events, but can't get there? Well now you can with tART - transport to ART.

tART, is an exciting new project that enables more people to experience and enjoy a wide range of arts events happening throughout Northern Shropshire. 

Targeting young people aged 11-23, disabled people, older people and those living in rural areas; the project provides transport for people who would otherwise not be able to get to the interesting and varied arts events taking place.

From January to July 2010 the project will provide transport to over 25 registered arts events, for people living in North Shropshire. Events could be anything from drama, music, poetry and dance and could include exhibitions and participatory workshops. 

Lack of transport stops many people from attending arts events. By enabling people to attend events, we can make a real difference to people's health and wellbeing. 

Oswestry Community Action (Qube) will be running the project in partnership with Shropshire Council's Arts and Festivals team. Funding for the project has come from the Northern Shropshire Partnership.

How tART can be of use to Event Organisers?

In the past tART has helped events promoters to:

• Increase attendance at their event and therefore ticket sales if appropriate
• Make their event more accessible and inclusive
